Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)

It is the policy of the Santa Fe County Corrections Department to provide all inmates with a safe and secure environment free from the threat of any sexual misconduct to include sexual harassment, sexual assault or sexual abuse. The Santa Fe County Corrections Department has a zero tolerance of all forms of sexual misconduct between inmates, staff, contractors, volunteers and other inmates. The PREA policy complies with the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 for prevention, detection, reporting, and treatment for victims of sexual misconduct.

If it has been reported to you or you believe that an inmate is experiencing any form of sexual misconduct, sexual abuse or sexual harassment while incarcerated at a Santa Fe County  Detention Facility, please contact the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office at (505) 428-3720 or the Santa Fe State Police Department (505) 827-9300. When reporting, please provide your name and contact information, the inmate(s) involved, and when the incident occurred. Santa Fe County Corrections Department will only disclose this information to those who need to know to ensure the victim(s) safety and to investigate the allegation.
