Fire Section

Fire response throughout Santa Fe County is provided by Regional and Volunteers Members. Our Regional Staff meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 (Firefighter Qualifications) through the Fire Cadet Acacdemy.  Our Volunteer Members have varying levels of firefighter training and experience and the Department has a goal of ensuring 100% of all firefighting members meet NFPA 1001 through programs made available with a FEMA Grant in 2010.

Our minimum training requirements are ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 700, Firefighter First Aid, HazMat Awareness and Operations, Firefighter I, Wildland Fire S130/190 and Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) . Many of our members also have Confined Space Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, High Rise Operations, Pump Ops, Firefighter II, Fire Officer I and II.

Regional Members must also meet the OSHA Respiratory Protection Program 29 CFR 1910.134 requirements and pass Annual Qualitative and Quantitative FIT Tests.
