Ride-A-Long Program

 

The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office allows and encourages interested citizens to ride along with a Deputy Sheriff while he/she performs his/her duties**. 

If you are tired of just watching TV shows dipicting police/law enforcement and would be interested in seeing what really happens, then all you need to do is ask! You must be at least 18 years of age. 

You may pick up a an Application and the Waiver/Release form for the program at the office on 35 Camino Justicia, Santa Fe, NM 87508 or call 505-986-2455 to have them emailed to you. 

Law Enforcement can be an exciting an rewarding occupation to this is a great way to get an idea of what it's all about.

However, because Law Enforcement is inherently dangerous there is always a possibility that you could be hurt while participating with Law Enforcement operations. Therefore, the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office requires that you sign a Waiver and Release that absolves the County, Sheriff's Office, and Deputies from Liability. If you wish to participate, you must do so at your own risk. 

You must read, understand, and sign both the Application and Waiver/Release Forms. Ride-A-Long ApplicationWaiver/Release.

You will need to sign it in front of a witness (who may include anyone at the Sheriff's Office). The application will then be submitted to the Sheriff's Administration. All applicants are subject to a NCIC criminal background check before clearance to participate in the Ride-A-Long program. Once this is cleared then it wil be submitted to the Sheriff for final approval.

At that time your application will be turned in to our Community Services Division who will coordinate setting up your Ride-A-Long. You will be contacted and advised what date/time to arrive. You will need to have your Driver's Licence and/or photo Identification with you.

* ONLY ONE (1) Ride-A-Long per year is allowed per person.
